I realize that it is human nature to become a little complacent with things. We all have our daily routines; Get up, get some coffee, shower, etc, etc, etc. But as I write this I realize that I have become a little more than complacent, I have become just down right lazy. There are days that go by and I don't do anything. However this is going to change. A year or so ago I was taking online guitar lessons from Tom Hess. I know what you are thinking, Tom who? He is a great guitar player that gives online lessons and I owe him for sending me in the right direction but his style of teaching wasn't for me. I will write a review about that some day but for now the reason I am bringing him up is he has on his site a program he calls the practice generator. Don't worry folks, just like everything on his site you have to pay for it. In its core the practice generator is a great idea, it keeps you focused and on task. However spending money on something you can easily do yourself seems a little absurd in my opinion. But to each their own, I did purchase the program but I canceled it. This was both a good and a bad thing. It was good because I didn't truly see a value in it, however now I do. Rather then cough up money I don't have I am going to start making a daily check list. I realize that if I am going to get anywhere then I need to do this for myself. Not only is this a guitar lesson, it is a life lesson. I strongly suggest that everyone that is learning guitar to do something similar. I've scoured the internet for the answer to your next question, and that is what to practice while practicing guitar? That question is best answered on a one on one basis and one of the many things I can help you with being a student of mine. Without further ado I am going to post below my new daily check list. This is going to have more than just guitar.
- Exercise for at least one hour.
- Practice Guitar for at least one hour.
- Jam Time for at least one hour.
- Clean something.
- Do something for the business.
These items do not have to be consecutive. Practice time could be for a half hour now and a half hour later. Also could go for longer. I will add items as I go.
